ARTxFM STREAM 2

ARTxFM REMOTE BROADCASTING

CLICK HERE FOR GRC PRESENTATION ON REMOTE BROADCASTING

How it works . . .

From your remote studio, you will be connecting to a secondary ARTxFM stream.  This stream is private for DJ use only.  It is NOT on-air until it is picked up by the station computer (H.A.L.).  When it is time for your program to air, this new stream will be opened up via Web browser on H.A.L.  The in-studio DJ will illuminate the H.A.L. fader on the soundboard and raise the levels to their appropriate setting.  At this point, your stream will be on air -- going out through our soundboard to local listeners on WXOX 97.1 FM and streaming worldwide on artxfm.com

Getting Started . . .

Install the Audio Encoding software of your choice.  Then, contact Station Management for DJ Stream Access Codes.

Once you receive the Set Up information, enter it in the software.  If you cannot find where to enter this information, please contact your trainer for advice.

DO NOT TEST stream outside of your scheduled time.  All DJs share this stream and only one may access at a time.  Logging in outside of your scheduled timeslot can prevent someone else from doing their program -- or even kick them off air!

Once you have registered for a timeslot, you can test your connection during this time.  If you have any problems, you can contact your trainer or post in the ARTxFM Remote Broadcasters FB page for advice.

Once you get the stream working, contact station management for a sound check.  During the SOUND CHECK we will want to hear your music in comparison to your mic levels and make sure they are even.  We will also be listening for connectivity issues.  Plan to play music for at least 20 minutes as we make sure your stream is stable.

It’s Showtime . . .

If the proceeding DJ is LIVE IN-STUDIO . . .
You will START BROADCAST on the DJ Stream and begin playing your THEME MUSIC AT LEAST 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR SHOW.  This will allow them to CUE the music and make sure your audio is coming through on the soundboard.

If the proceeding DJ is a REMOTE BROADCASTER . . .
You will need to be in with the DJ via Text message.  The first DJ will text the second DJ the moment they STOP BROADCAST.  This text will be the upcoming DJs cue to push START.

If you get an error message when trying to connect, KEEP TRYING, it will eventually connect when the other broadcaster clears the stream.  If you don't connect quickly enough, H.A.L. will drop the broadcast stream and return to AutoDJ Mix.  If you cannot connect after three minutes, DJ 1 should pick up the stream again until the techincal issues are resolved.

Signing Off . . .

If the next DJ is IN-STUDIO . . . .
You will play an otro-song for as long as it takes them to get set up, and fade you out. An instrumental on a loop will do just fine.  The In-Studio DJ will text you when you are all clear.  Please do not stop broadcast until that time.  Be prepared to play 5-10 minutes of music in the case of technical difficulties.

If the next DJ is a REMOTE BROADCASTER . . .
You will need to stop EXACTLY at the top of the hour.  Then TEXT the upcoming DJ the moment you push STOP BROADCAST so they know when to push START.

TIPS:
If you are getting feedback, WEAR HEADPHONES.

If your stream is skipping and unstable, plug in via ETHERNET turn off WiFi.

If it is still skipping and unstable, reset/restart modem, router, & computer.

If all codes are correct but DJ cannot connect. Check Stream 2 Server Status.
Any attempt to connect at too high a bitrate will cause the server to crash & it will need to be reset.

If all else fails, delete & reinstall broadcast software to start over.

Please ask if you have any questions! & Let us know if you have any suggestions!
